Kok-kee, is that you ?

Opening a SODA account with Brunei Pos is very tricky because Brunei do not seem to have a proper stamp issue policy. In 2003, they had only two issues, in 2004 they had 3 issues and in 2005 they had ZERO issues. In fact, Crown Agents, the agents for Brunei stamps, had to send representatives to Brunei to get them to issue stamps.

With so little issues per year, then I have two questions:
- Is it worthwhile to collect Brunei stamps?
- Are prices for previous issues increasing or high now?

Depends on which way you look at it.

On the "lack of issues", you certainly won't be complaining of too many issues per year !! Having said that, unfortunately, Brunei is fond of issuing very high FV stamps, eg 2008 40th Coronation MS (B$42!!), 2008 50th anv of Mosque (B$50!!) and 2009 Nat Day Silver Jubilee MS (B$25!)

Not sure about this. But they have issues that are not in the catalogue that are highly in demand now eg 1999 Sea Games two booklets that are not even in the latest SG catalogue. They brought a few copies during our Stampweek in Bukit Jalil in 2001. Many collectors didn't even notice.

Brunei is a tiny little country but they are rich. They don't issue stamps to generate income like many Africa countries.

2007 - 5 issues
2008 - 4 issues + 4 Booklets
2009 - 1 issue (to Feb)
Just take note on the2006, 2008 & 2009 issues of Miniature Sheet, which consists of :
1) 2006 - Sultan 60th Birthday MS at $60.00
2) 2008 - Coronation 40th Anniv. MS at $40.00
3) 2008 - 50th Anniv. Mosque MS at $50.00
